Sam Fender has reversed his initial ticket pricing strategy for the Proper Massive tour after a wave of criticism from fans. The 32-year-old musician announced the stadium schedule earlier this week, but the cost of admission immediately drew scrutiny on social media. In response, Fender used Instagram to confirm that the high prices were not his final decision and that he intended to lower them.

The controversy began when a user named Gavin Davis posted details for the Wembley show. The listing showed a steep gap between standing zones. Front-standing tickets were priced at 130.75 pounds, while standard standing tickets cost 98.85 pounds. Seated options ranged from 64.75 pounds to 130.75 pounds. Many followers felt the spread was excessive for a pop rock event, prompting Fender to reply that he was unhappy with the current figures. He stated that the prices had been inflated beyond his original intentions and should strictly reflect production costs rather than serve as additional profit for ticketing partners.

Fender specifically criticized the division of standing areas into front and back tiers. He described the practice as 'bollocks' and confirmed it would not be used for his tour. He expressed confusion over how such a system had become standard in live music. The pricing issues were not limited to London. Ticket listings for other cities also showed standing prices exceeding 100 pounds. In Newcastle, the highest price reached 112.90 pounds. Cardiff listed top tickets at 119 pounds, while Manchester’s top price was 119.60 pounds. Edinburgh had the highest price in the UK lineup at 120.95 pounds.

General ticket sales are scheduled to begin on Friday, following a presale that opens on Wednesday morning. The tour will take place across the summer of 2027. Fender will perform at several major venues, including St James’s Park in Newcastle, the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Marley Park in Dublin, Murrayfield in Edinburgh, and the Etihad Stadium in Manchester.

The singer joins a growing number of artists challenging high live music costs. In August, Swedish pop star Zara Larsson shared similar sentiments in a TikTok video. She agreed with fans that tickets for her Bangkok show were very expensive and said she wanted to be more involved in the pricing process. Larsson noted her frustration that financial barriers were preventing people from attending her concerts.

Alongside the tour announcement, Fender confirmed that a fourth studio album is in the works. He has not yet revealed the title or cover art for the new project. The release follows his recent critical and commercial success, which includes a Mercury Prize win for his 2025 album People Watching.

Fender has established himself as a leading voice in contemporary music with hits such as Hypersonic Missiles and Seventeen Going Under. He has won five Brit awards during his career. Earlier this year, he collaborated with English singer-songwriter Olivia Dean on a duet version of the single Rein Me In. That collaboration won the 2026 Brit award for song of the year. It also spent 23 weeks at number one on the singles chart, making it the longest-running number one single in British history.
