For families who gathered to watch local boxers, the evening ended with sirens instead of applause. Four people were shot while outside a venue in southern Brisbane, leaving them in hospitals as doctors assessed their injuries. The incident happened just as the event was beginning to wind down, catching attendees off guard.

Police were alerted to the situation at 8:15 p.m. local time. Officers responded to a licensed venue in the suburb of Loganholme after reports that someone had fired from a moving car. The vehicle involved was seen driving away from the scene. Four injured individuals were transported to medical facilities. Their conditions are currently being evaluated by staff.

The shooting took place at Fitzys Loganholme on Bryants Road. The venue was hosting the Logan City Titles Fight Night. Chris Stream, a deputy commander with Queensland police, described the scene as confronting. He noted that several people had sustained gunshot wounds. The event was meant to be a celebration of local athletic talent.

Jon Raven, the mayor of Logan, said the area was left feeling frightened. He told the Today show that the event sent a shockwave through the community. Raven stated that residents had never seen anything quite like this before in their area. He expressed his thoughts for the victims, the venue staff, and everyone present that night.

The mayor had attended similar events in the past. He described them as family-friendly environments where many children were present. Raven said the incident would impact the children for the rest of their lives. He believed the night had been organized to help steer young people away from violence. The event was intended to empower and reconnect youth who might be struggling.

Raven said the organizer of the fight night would be devastated by the outcome. He noted that the organizer loves boxing and uses it to help young people get back on track. The mayor felt this was the opposite of what the organizer would want to see. The event was designed to bring the community together through sport and shared interest.

The organizers of the Logan City Titles posted a statement on social media the following morning. They described the incident as heartbreaking. The group said the event was for the community, showcasing local talent and hard work. They stated that these types of incidents have no place in the boxing community or the broader society.

Police said the people responsible for the shooting remain at large. Investigators did not believe there was an ongoing threat to the public. Authorities urged anyone with information about the shooting to come forward and contact them. The case remains active as officers continue to gather details from the scene.
