More than 200 adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities at a Perach Israel rehabilitation village completed mock ballots on Monday. The exercise took place one day before the national Knesset election scheduled for Tuesday, October 27. The facility set up a temporary polling station inside the village to allow residents to rehearse the physical steps of casting a vote.

The simulation included standard election equipment such as voting booths, paper envelopes, and ballot slips. Staff members walked residents through each stage of the procedure. They explained the legal right to vote and assisted individuals in selecting a candidate and placing the marked ballot into the designated envelope.

Moshe Stein, the CEO of Perach Israel, described the activity as an extension of the village's daily routines. "The right to choose is part of everyday life in our village," Stein said. He noted that staff teach residents to make independent decisions in routine matters, ranging from selecting clothing colors to managing free time. Stein stated that this ability to make personal decisions plays a role in the residents' quality of life.

The practice sessions aim to reduce uncertainty for eligible voters. By using a familiar environment, the organization sought to help residents master the practical aspects of voting. This preparation coincides with a national election in which millions of Israelis will select representatives for the next Knesset.

The initiative focused on ensuring that eligible residents could participate in the democratic process. The mock station allowed participants to experience the specific mechanics of ballot handling before the official count on Tuesday.
