Residents of Noblesville, Indiana, will see the Historic Courthouse and the Bridge of Flowers glowing green starting today. These landmarks will remain illuminated through November 11, marking the first week of the nationwide Operation Green Light campaign.
The initiative aims to provide a visible sign of appreciation for veterans and their sacrifices. It coincides with Veterans Day, a federal holiday observed in the United States on November 11. The goal is to remind communities that local veterans are valued members of their neighborhoods.
Christine Altman, President of the Hamilton County Commissioners, stated that the lighting serves as a simple but meaningful gesture. "We see you, we appreciate you, and we stand with you," Altman said. She noted that the green lights are a way to ensure that the contributions of those who served are not forgotten.
Beyond the two main landmarks, the Hamilton County Parks & Recreation Department will activate green lighting on signs and other features throughout its park systems. These additional lights will stay on for the entire month of November, extending the visual tribute beyond the initial week-long display.
Local leaders are inviting businesses, organizations, and homeowners to join the effort. Participants are asked to replace a single exterior bulb with a green one or place a green light in a window. The county encourages people to share photos of their displays on social media using the hashtag #OperationGreenLight.
